I was all geared up.
I had on my brand new bicycle pants, clip in shoe things, and 90 pounds per square inch in each tire. The wind was strong outside. There had been heavy winds for several days prior, so the streets were strewn with palm frawns and misc. debris. ALL DOWN HILL, I made my way to the Rose Bowl, and on my final descent in to the valley, bump bump bump, BUMP BUMP BUMP... FLAT tire. sigh. i may as well enjoy the sunshine. I layed down for a moment. Then, I faced the hill and started walking with ol' reliable bike on my shoulder.
